The following conditions are contraindications to whole body cryotherapy only: Other services are safe for everyone. Pregnancy, severe Hypertension (Blood Pressure> 180/100), acute or recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, cardiac pacemaker, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous thrombosis, acute or recent cerebrovascular accident, uncontrolled seizures, Raynaud’s Syndrome, tumor disease, symptomatic lung disorders, bleeding disorders, fever, severe anemia, infection, cold allergy, acute kidney and urinary tract diseases. How does whole body cryotherapy work?
Whole Body Cryotherapy uses ultra-cooled nitrogen gas application to lower the client’s skin temperature 30 degrees Fahrenheit for between 1 and 3 minutes. Thermoreceptors in the skin send messages to the brain and central nervous system and the body goes into “Survival Mode” by sending hyper-oxygenated and nutritious blood via vasoconstriction to the body’s vital organs in its core. After exiting the ultra-cooled environment, the body begins the warm to its natural temperature and vasodilation occurs, sending the oxygenated and nutritious blood back out to the body’s periphery. This process provides the body with extra nutrients, rids the body of toxins, produces collagen, and activates the body’s natural cell regeneration cycle to produce newer, healthier cells.
What do I wear during whole body cryotherapy?
We supply you with a robe, socks, and slippers for your treatment. Just make sure you are wearing underwear 🙂
If you have your own robe, thick high cut socks, slippers/ugg boots feel free to bring them along!
I’m claustrophobic, will I be able to handle whole body cryotherapy?
Absolutely. The cryosauna is open at the top so the client’s head is completely exposed and the client is in constant communication with the technician during the entire Cryotherapy treatment process. The door is never locked and the client can exit the cryosauna at any time if they feel any distress or discomfort.
How will I feel after whole body cryotherapy?
During each cryotherapy treatment the body releases endorphins, which supply your body with a natural source of energy and invigoration. This endorphin energy will last 6 to 8 hours after the session. Like any new regimen, consistency is important to achieve the most beneficial results possible. Cryotherapy effectively decreases pain and increases ability. You will also burn 500 to 800 calories per treatment due to the sharp increase in metabolism.
Is there an age restriction for cryotherapy?
It is recommended that clients be at least 16 years of age with parental consent to get a Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment. For clients who are between 14 and 15 years of age, a physicians release and parental consent form and required for Cryotherapy treatment. There is no age limit for our polar facial or spot treatment services.
How does cryotherapy compare to an ice bath?
The results and benefits seen from Cryotherapy are not seen in application of an ice bath. After 15 minutes in the extremely unbearable coldness of an ice bath, the body’s surface temperature does not even reach freezing whereas during Cryotherapy the skin temperature can get to below freezing in just 2 to 3 minutes. This cooling below freezing temperatures is what triggers the system response of the brain and central nervous system and is absolutely necessary to in obtaining the benefits of cryotherapy.
Can I exercise before or after cryotherapy?
Yes. It’s common for athletes to utilize Whole Body Cryotherapy before working out in order to increase flexibility, range of motion, blood flow, and oxygen flow. Similarly, it’s common for athletes to participate in Whole Body Cryotherapy after working out in order to expedite soft tissue healing. It is recommended that you shower prior to a session and avoid using any lotions or other topical products beforehand.
What is cryotherapy?
It’s a pain treatment that utilises a method of localised freezing temperatures. Your body will be exposed to -140°C temperature. It takes only three minutes, but the cryotherapy effects are amazing. The cold stimulus typically activates physiological processes in your body. Blood circulation is stimulated, viruses are combated and both your metabolism and immune system get a boost. Your entire body scans itself parts that are functioning poorly and heals itself fast.
Does cryotherapy boost your immune system?
Whole Body Cryotherapy has been shown to boost the body’s natural immune response through five major ways: 1) increasing blood circulation 2) boosting cellular activity 3) removing toxins 4) increasing white blood cell count and 5) decreasing cortisol levels.
The Polar Facial FAQ’s
Are cryotherapy facials safe?
Yes! The Polar Facial is completely safe and non-invasive. The treatment uses cold air to bring the skins temperature down to 0-15degrees which triggers a response in the skin and creates amazing results. It is even safe during pregnancy.
What is a cryotherapy facial?
The Polar Facial is stimulation of face skin and neckline with the steam of liquid nitrogen with the help of a local cryotherapy device. Unlike whole-body cryotherapy when the whole body (except the head) is affected by cold, in local cryotherapy you can direct the steam of cold to a specific area. This feature is widely used in the beauty & medical industries.
Do I need more than one treatment?
One treatment will refresh and detoxify the skin, promote collagen production, and tighten and tone. However, over a course of treatments, the skin will continually improve in appearance; including plumpness, smoothing of fine lines, reduced pore size, and overall brightness and radiance. On your initial consultation, we will be able to advise you on the best course of action for further appointments.
What does a cryotherapy facial feel like?
It feels like a gentle, cool breeze. It promotes relaxation and is especially soothing to sensitive or inflamed skin, as well as those experiencing menopause.
Will I be red after the polar facial?
The increase in blood flow to the surface of the skin (which is one of the physiological benefits) may cause a temporary flush, but will settle quickly.
What is the aftercare for a cryotherapy facial?
The facial is non-invasive, so there is no aftercare. To maximise results, we would always recommend the use of a comprehensive skincare regimen, as well as the use of sunscreen. Due to the detoxifying nature of the treatment, we suggest you ensure adequate water intake.
Polar Body Sculpting FAQ’s
What is cryotherapy body sculpting?
Polar body sculpting is a non-invasive treatment where a targeted area is cooled down to 0-15 degrees, many people use this treatment to reduce the appearance of cellulite, and eliminate stubborn body fat.
Is polar body sculpting the same as cool sculpting?
No, our treatment is different to cool sculpting. Cool sculpting is an invasive treatment that is much more expensive and can cause bruising/inflammation. Body sculpting on the other hand is non-invasive and much safer for individuals. It is also much more cost effective and yields amazing results.
How many treatments do I need?
We recommend a complimentary consultation to advise clients on treatment areas and to create a personalised treatment plan.
Will it help me lose weight?
Polar Sculpting uses sub-zero temperatures to kill stubborn fat – whilst your skin and surrounding tissues can manage the freezing temperature, the fat cells die off, never to be seen again. Results are understandably accelerated in conjunction with a nourishing diet and regular exercise. Whole Body Cryotherapy is also very helpful with weight loss.
Does polar body sculpting help with reducing cellulite?
Polar sculpting is able to reduce the visible signs of cellulite by increasing blood flow to the area, freezing stubborn fat cells and encouraging collagen and elastin production, all whilst tightening and toning surrounding skin.
What parts of the body can you treat?
Anywhere that stubborn fat is present we are able to treat. Common areas are tummy, bottom, thighs, arms and neck/chin.

Infrared Sauna FAQ
Are Infrared Sauna’s safe?
Infrared sauna’s are completely safe and healthy for all living things. You can be exposed to infrared light for hours without the risk of burning. Infrared is a naturally occurring output of the sun, but does not contain the harmful UV rays associated with unprotected sunlight. In fact, infrared heat is so safe, it is used in hospitals to warm new-born infants.
What’s the Difference Between Infrared Saunas and Traditional Saunas?
Infrared heat is very gentle. The experience is similar to lying in the sun on a warm day and feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body. Unlike traditional (hot rock or steam) saunas–which operate at well in excess of 200°F–infrared heat has the benefit of being effective at a more comfortable operating temperature of 100°-150°F.
Traditional saunas heat the air vs. the body directly. Rather than inducing detoxification and relaxation, this can make the experience unbearably hot and difficult to breathe. Because infrared heat penetrates human tissue vs. simply heating the surface of the skin, infrared saunas are seven times more effective than traditional saunas at detoxifying the body. By raising the body’s core temperature, infrared saunas can produce a sweat composed of 20% toxins vs. only 3% toxins with a traditional sauna.
What should I wear whilst in the Sauna?
You are welcome to wear a swimsuit or you can wear nothing at all if you would prefer.
We just ask that you are sat on the fresh towels that are provided.
Should I shower during the sauna if I get too hot?
We don’t recommend showering during the session so as to not lower your body temperature too much.
If you do start getting hot, you can lower the temperature in the sauna.
Alternatively you can step out of the sauna for a minute as the room is air-conditioned.
This will offer you enough of a break to comfortably get back in.
Can I use the sauna if I’m pregnant?
No, we don’t recommend using the sauna while pregnant. However, it is a great tool to use post pregnancy.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nope, we’ve got it all covered! Just arrive 5 mins before your booking time and we’ll show you to the sauna where you’ll find a towel to wear and another towel to dry off with.
We also supply water, however if you had your own bottle of water to bring along, it is encouraged.
